Demi-Quartier is a commune in Haute-Savoie, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, bordering the prestigious resorts of Megève, to the south, and Combloux, to the north.
Its name could come from the shape of its territory which resembles a crescent moon or more simply recall that it was part of a lordship.
But this is not the only originality of Demi-Quartier: the parish was separated from Megève in the 18th century, but administrative links have been preserved.
Thus, the town hall of the commune of Demi-Quartier is located on the territory of its neighbor and the two localities are co-owners of the church and the war memorial, in particular, of Megève.
With a population of around 1,000, some of whom live in hamlets, Demi-Quartier benefited from the growth of Megève between the two wars, becoming one of the most prestigious winter sports resorts in France. This is why it is home to many hotel establishments, while most of the skiing-related activities are located in the Megève area.
